MVMA meets January-November. No meeting is held in December. Regular meetings usually last from 11:30am until 1pm, which involves networking (before, after, and sometimes during each meeting) and great information on topics chosen by the Program Committee. Special workshops held in collaboration with our university partner are longer format – please see information regarding our Chancellor’s Certificate in Volunteer Management below.
MVMA is a member-driven organization, and the Program Committee pays close attention to member feedback and requests when selecting meeting topics, formats, and speakers.
Monthly meetings primarily consist of two parts: networking and education. Members always have the opportunity to meet and talk with other individuals from the field of volunteer management. Each meeting may consist of an educational session with a speaker, small group session or panel where members have the opportunity to learn more about a specific topic in the field of volunteer management.

Fine-tune your volunteer management skills and obtain proof of your professional expertise by receiving a Chancellor’s Certificate in Volunteer Management!
Recognizing the need for professional development in the field of volunteer management, MVMA and (UMSL’s Nonprofit Management & Leadership (NPML) program and Continuing Education (CE) department will offer classes that individuals can use to qualify for a “Chancellor’s Certificate in Volunteer Management.”
In order to obtain the Chancellor’s Certificate, the individuals must enroll in and complete 16 or more hours of training in classes that are produced as part of this collaboration. Individuals do not have to take the 16 hours of training within a certain time frame. Classes or training can be accumulated over an extended amount of time.
MVMA members receive a discount on all classes and workshops related to the chancellor’s certificate in volunteer management. Over the course of three workshops (the minimum required to achieve the 16 hours needed for the certificate), MVMA members generally save between $50-$75!
The Programming Committee always makes sure to gather feedback from attendees after each meeting. Additionally, an annual survey is conducted of the general membership to determine which meeting topics are selected for the following year.
